Try these tips
1. Use well known and well written books to help you - I suggest "Vocabulary in Use" and "Phrasal verbs in Use" and "Collocations in Use" - all Cambridge publications OR you could go for a specific book for IELTS like "Vocabulary for IELTS" by Collins - English for Exams - this one is really good :) 2. Keep an exercise book and on EACH page make a list of all related vocabulary under topic headings, like :
